Apple has finally made a foldable iPhone.
The new iPhone Duo is Apple’s first foldable phone, while Samsung is already selling its latest book-style foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold8. Both phones open into a larger screen, but the experience is quite different once you look beyond the basic design.

Design
The iPhone Duo has a titanium frame and weighs 254 grams. When opened, it is just 5.2mm thick. Apple has used a 7.6-inch inner display and a smaller 5.4-inch outer display.
Samsung has taken a different approach with the Galaxy Z Fold8. It weighs only 201 grams and is 4.5mm thick when open. Samsung has also changed the shape of the Fold8 to make it more comfortable for everyday use.
So, there is a 53-gram difference between the two. That is something you will notice if you carry the phone around all day.
The Cover Screen Is Very Different
This is one of the biggest differences.
The iPhone Duo has a 5.4-inch outer display. Apple has kept it relatively small so the phone can be used like a compact phone when it is closed.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 has a 5.5-inch cover display with a 10:16 aspect ratio. Samsung has designed it mainly for quick tasks, scrolling and regular phone use without opening the device.

Samsung gives the Galaxy Z Fold8 a 4,800mAh battery and rates it for up to 26 hours of video playback.
Apple does not give a battery capacity in mAh for the iPhone Duo. Instead, Apple says it can provide up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display and up to 44 hours when using the outer display.
These numbers come from each company’s own testing, so they should not be treated as a direct real-world comparison.
AI Features
AI is a major part of both phones.
The iPhone Duo comes with Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. Apple has built the AI features into iOS 27 and says the A20 Pro is designed to handle on-device AI workloads.
